Following last week’s victory over Douglas, White’s Cross has qualified for the Junior 1 Football League Final, which will take place next Saturday, June 6th, at Ballinlough, starting at 19:15. They will face Glanmire, who they previously defeated by five points in Round 2 of the league. While we hope to replicate that success, we anticipate a much stronger performance from Glanmire this time.
In addition to the win against Glanmire, White’s Cross has also triumphed over St. Michaels, St. Nicks, Douglas, and Whitechurch, with one walkover included. The only blemish on our record was a defeat to Ballyphehane in Round 5. Football in the club has had real bounce with the appointment of the new management team—John Paul Cotter, Edwin Buckley, and Tadgh Lyons—building on the impressive championship performances of 2025. We also reached the Junior 4 Final, securing a thrilling victory over Ballyphehane last week.
Two seasons ago, under the management of Murt Kelleher and Kevin Buckley, we reached both league finals but lost narrowly to Nemo Rangers. The new management team has built upon the foundation laid by Murt and Kevin. With this year’s Division 4 title already secured, we are eager to add the club’s seventh Junior 1 League title next weekend. We hope to see a large White’s Cross crowd out to support the lads!
