Upper Glanmire Girls Sciath Na Scoil Success!

3 December 2013

White’s Cross GAA congratulates the Upper Glanmires girls team that recently won their Sciath na Scoil final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh against Ovens NS.  The Ovens outfit were going for a double, with the boys team already clinching their football crown, but the ladies of Upper Glanmire upset the mid-Cork outfits plans!

Teacher at the school, Ms. Judy O’ Brien, was keen to praise the coaching of Finbarr Kiely, in the preparation of this team. As part of a White’s Cross GAA funded initiative, we have been sending a coach into the school a day each week, continuously for the past thirteen years.  Finbarr, who has over fifteen years of experience in schools’ coaching, has been the White’s Cross representative for some ten years now.

Well done to all involved with the victorious girls side, and well done also to the boys football team who put in some fine performances in their competition also – here’s hoping the hurling equivalent after Christmas can bring even more joy to the school!
