Super Sunday for St. Colmcille’s!

Super Sunday: Sunday, September 28th 2025 will go down in the annals of St. Colmcille’s, and it’s two clubs Carraig na bhFear and White’s Cross GAA, as a really, really special day – arguably the best day in our history… and that includes the time in the 1970’s and 1980’s when we were first together. First and foremost we say a BIG well done to the boys who were part of that history – each and everyone that played their part… After the day’s games we have added four pieces of silver-ware to our 2025 trophy haul! Two of these were won by our Under 12 teams and two more by our Under 13 teams. And for good measure our Minor footballers had a pulsating two point win away to an unbeaten Kilmurry side to progress to the playoffs in their championship – we needed that victory to quality.

It’s noteworthy that there were many family connections across the teams – brothers and cousins as you will always get in the GAA. On the victorious Minor side you had Oscar O’Connell, James O’Halloran, Ciarán Tattan and Darragh Glavey on duty while in Nemo a couple of hours later their brothers George, Shane, Pádraig and Ronan respectively were involved with the victorious Under 13 teams. Sickness prevented the same older – younger distinction in the Dunne house: Cian played a great game at midfield for the Minors while younger brother Finn would have been on the Under 12 team only that he was ill. He has played his part all year with this team though and is very much part of today’s success – payback, or at least compensation, to father Tony, who in his role as our Secretary has put in incredible work into St. Colmcille’s across the last three years.

Meantime older brother Patrick Ahern was involved with the u13a while younger brother Darragh netted two goals in the and U12 win over St. Nicks. Also Joseph Crowley manned the centre-back berth for the Under 13s first team, while Ronan was also in defence for the victorious Under 12s. Corey Forde put in a great shift at wing forward for the U13s while younger brother Zach played up an age to be part of the U12 success. As well as all those siblings on the Under 12 panels there were twins Oisín and Ciarán O’Brien, and other siblings Seán and Cillian Buckley. Forgive us if we have left anyone out- and be sure to message us to put it right!
