St. Colmcille’s made an impressive start to their Rebel Óg East U12 Group 3 Football League campaign with a convincing win over St. Colman’s in Cloyne on Monday evening.
The visitors settled quickly, opening the scoring through Darragh Quinlan before further points from Donncha Harte and Zach Forde established early control. A well-taken goal from Ben Kennefick pushed Colmcille’s further ahead, and they continued to dominate with excellent teamwork and accurate shooting. Points from Luke Hegarty, RJ Whitley and others kept the scoreboard ticking. Although St. Colman’s responded with a goal midway through the half, Colmcille’s finished strongly, with two goals from the influential RJ Whitley helping them to a commanding 3-12 to 1-01 lead at the break.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Colmcille’s maintaining their intensity. Whitley added another goal, while Zach Forde contributed both from play and placed balls. Ryan McCarthy got the final goal finding the net in the 20th minute of the second half St. Colman’s battled to the end and added two late goals, but Colmcille’s control was never in doubt.
