St. Colmcille’s Under 12 hurlers were defeated by Glen Rovers on Wednesday evening in the Rebel Óg East Under 12 Group 2 Hurling League, with the visitors running out 1-12 to 0-6 winners.
The teams were well matched in terms of overall hurling ability, but Glen Rovers had a significant physical advantage and used their strength effectively throughout the game. They moved into a 1-7 to 0-3 lead by half-time, with St. Colmcille’s scores coming from Michael Looney and Zach Forde.
Colmcille’s continued to compete well after the break and created a number of scoring opportunities, but were unable to convert enough of their chances. Michael Looney added three further points from frees in the second half, while Glen Rovers added another five points to secure a deserved victory.
