St. Colmcille’s fell to a narrow defeat against Glenville in the U21 East Cork Football League Final, despite a strong first-half showing.
Colmcille’s started brightly, with Eddie Coughlan opening the scoring from play before adding further scores throughout the half. Seán Whelan was also accurate from frees, helping to build momentum. The key moment of the opening period came on 15 minutes when Coughlan finished to the net, giving Colmcille’s a valuable advantage. Combined with disciplined defending and a couple of important saves from Billy Ryan, they led 1-4 to 0-4 at the break.
However, Glenville came out with renewed intensity in the second half and began to dominate possession. Their sharp shooting from play, particularly from their center-forward, saw them steadily overturn the deficit.
Colmcille’s battled hard to stay in touch, with Coughlan continuing to convert frees and Evan Flynn adding a late point from play. Despite their efforts, Glenville’s consistent scoring proved decisive.
