Glenville lead from start to finish in this game played at their home patch. Colmcille’s did enjoy periods of dominance but either did not make it pay on the scoreboard or left it to late to impact the result. The home side ghosted in for a soft goal very early on and quickly added a point before a superb effort from full-forward Joe Coughlan got the visitors first point. The concession of soft penalty in the 20th minute heaped the pressure back on Colmcille’s when they were settling into the game. Joe Coughlan added two more pointed frees before the break to leave his side trailing 2-03 to 0-03. This was not such a bad scoreline and could have been higher had not their been timely interventions from David Lynch and Donncha Hickey in the Colmcille’s rear-guard.

The third quarter would be crucial. Unfortunately, it was the home side that did all the running and did all the scoring. They had two more points registered. Colmcille’s did make a fight late on. Ayo Osunboyde worked tirelessly throughout and Tommy Forrest was very lively when he came on. Both of these players scored 1-01 between them to bring their side back into the game. With minutes to go though the home-side broke back up the field and scored a goal that would ensure a deserved victory for them. Credit to our lads for battling throughout but well done to Glenville also; a side coached by former White’s Cross stalwart Paul Noonan.
