St. Colmcilles 7-13 Youghal 7-06

In a thrilling encounter at Carraig na bhFear GAA Grounds on Tuesday evening, St. Colmcille’s Under 13 footballers secured a hard-fought victory against Youghal, finishing top of the table after Phase 1 of the league. The match saw a total of fourteen goals, with both teams displaying impressive attacking prowess.

St. Colmcille’s started strong, with the dynamic quartet of Ronan Cunningham, Cian Ramsell, Gearóid Hayes, and Patrick Ahern tearing through the Youghal defense. They quickly netted three goals within the first 12 minutes, supported by effective play from Ben Cashman and Oscar O’Connell. Defensively, Ruairí Harte stood firm at full back, while Corey Forde excelled in the half-back line, ensuring a solid foundation for the team.

However, Youghal rallied in the second quarter, narrowing the gap with a couple of goals of their own just before halftime. The second half brought increased pressure from Youghal, but St. Colmcille’s defense, led by Bradley Roche, Kyle Conway, and Pádraig Tattan, held strong. Ross O’Donovan contributed crucial points, but the tension escalated when Youghal was awarded a penalty. Alex Lynam’s brilliant save kept the score in favor of St. Colmcille’s, although Youghal managed to score on the rebound.

With Shane O’Halloran reinforcing the defense and Rory Aherne adding a vital point, St. Colmcille’s regained control. Dominance in midfield from Charlie Cox and Harry Varley helped secure the win.
