The under 17 football team got their league campaign off to a flying start when they recorded a big win over St Nicks in the first round of the Rebel Og East Cork league. They put in a dominant performance from the off. Within a minute Sean Whelan had Colmcilles in front and a minute later Eddie Coughlan added another. St. Nicks did draw level but before further points from Ruairi Quinlan and Eddie Coughlan again put Colmcilles out in front. The remainder of the half was tight enough but Colmcilles thanks to points from Rob Sheehan, Adam O’Halloran, Evan Flynn and Sean Whelan again ensured that the homeside lead 0-09 to 0-05 at half time.
The second half was all one-way traffic as Colmcilles were rampant. Riain Harden got the first of the goals while Eddie Coughlan and Sean Whelan kept knocking over the points as Nicks were in trouble all over the field. One of the highlights of the second half was the return from injury of Sean Delaney who has been out with a knee injury. He made an immediate impact as he scored two goals for his side.
