We played our last round in the round-robin series of games on Monday evening, needing a win away from home to proceed to the semi-finals of the Championship. With a number of strong players injured and others also unavailable for selection, we had just 13 players available but each and every one of them played their hearts out and fought hard. Leaders stepped up knowing what was at stake!
In the reliable and safe hands of our goal keeper Adam O’ Halloran, our ferocious backs led from the start, Aidan Docherty, Joe Dunphy, Daragh Cashman, Mark O Keeffe and Ivan Dunlea. Our standout mid fielders, Ronan Healy and Micheal Leahy kept our forwards loaded with ammunition.
Our forwards Adam Bowen, Sean Delaney and Shane Buckley, Oliver Crowley and Evan Quain followed through with the scores needed. St. Colmcille’s trailed by 8 points at half time but in whirlwind fashion turned this deficit into a 7 points winning margin to keep us in this competition – outstanding comeback from a team that had lots of reason to simply throw in the towel at half-time.
