In this Under 13 hurling league encounter, played at White’s Cross, our lads worked hard from the start. Harry Coughlan and Brendan Quain were hurling a lot of ball from midfield and scored some lovely points. Danny Linehan, Ethan Ryan and Olan Skillington were solid in defence, while Sean Twomey and Eolan Dill fought tigerishly for each ball and made sure their opponents had to work for everything. Seamus Hennessy was very solid in goal.
Robert Docherty and Luke Murphy were kept on their toes in the forward line trying to use every ball coming their way to the team’s advantage. Senan Ryan was a constant threat with his pace and skill, while Stephen Whooley and Daniel Kelleher got in on the scoring act to complete a fine team effort.
The introduction early in the second half of our young and upcoming U12’s Patrick Harrington, Luke Kelleher, Jack Collins and Ciaran Aitken showed how they were more than able to hold their own at this level. The substitutes settled well and contributed strongly as White’s Cross took control of the game and worked towards a well-deserved victory on a score line of 5-12 to 2-5.
