In this under 12 hurling league encounter, buoyed on by a strong home support, White’s Cross captain Jack Collins elected to play against the elements in the first half. Stellar defending by Ethan Ryan, Seamus Hennessy, Daniel O’Keeffe & a dominant midfield of Eddie Coughlan & Robert Docherty ensured a steady supply of ball to the forwards throughout the opening period. Long range pointed frees from Eddie Coughlan and an opportunist goal from Luke Kelleher ensured the home team held a 1-2 to 0-2 lead at the break.
The second half saw White’s Cross play their best hurling of the season to date with Patrick Harrington, Charlie Browne, Eliah Hurley, Ciaran Aitken and Kevin Reynolds putting on impressive performances. Brendan Quain rattled the net within minutes of the restart to put them on their way. Eddie Coughlan notched the score of the night after a strong run, finishing superbly to the top corner and poacher supreme Sean O’Mahony did what he does best.
All in all, an extremely satisfying night for the management team with Luke Murphy, Ruairi Quinlan, Rian Harden all putting in solid performances to ensure a great victory.
