For the second week in a row White’s Cross made a slow start and soon found themselves trailing their well drilled West Cork Rivals by 5 points after 15 minutes of the Under 13 Football League game. But Fiachra O Connell with a trade mark goal brought White’s Cross back into it. Cill na Matra were the better team by a distance in the first half and despite Billy O Hara pointing for White’s Cross the men from the West lead 1-10 to 1-1 at half time.
But this White’s Cross team doesn’t give up and a few half time changes began to pay dividends with Corey Cambridge starting to dominate and the O Connell cousins Ryan and Craig offering strength and skill to the teams efforts. Despite the White’s Cross team laying siege to the Cill na Matra goal in the end they ran out of time and were narrowly beaten by 4 points with the final score White’s Cross 3-9 Cill na Matra 2-16.
