White’s Cross 3 – 09 Passage West 2 – 11

This game was played in the aftermath of a heart-breaking County Junior A Football championship quarter final defeat versus Cloyne. Paul O Sullivan, Denis O Regan and Dylan Burke all played in this Under 21 clash, while further members of the Junior A set-up: Conor Kelleher, Jonathan Kenneally, Murt Kelleher, Eoin Murnane and Paul Noonan were selectors to the team.

This Under 21 side had drawn a pulsating semi-final clash with Passage the previous week, eleven points apiece.  However O’ Sullivan had missed this initial encounter because he was one of those who had his return from holiday delayed when his tour-operator went bust!

In the replay White’s Cross had a most exciting single-point victory, and while one could not but feel a tinge of sympathy for a gallant Passage side, it was just the tonic for our Club!  O’ Sullivan himself eradicated the memories of the county clash as he went on a scoring spree totting up a whopping 2 goals and 7 points personal tally.  White’s Cross won out on a score-line of 3:9 to 2:11, with Shane Cahill scoring the other Cross goal and captain Denis O Regan lofting over a couple of points.  Having accounted for St. Michaels and Passage, they now face more very stiff opposition against Brian Dillons in the decider.
