This was a very close game between 2 very even sides played at Kerry Pike. White’s Cross did most of the early running but were finding scores hard to come by, indeed with five minutes to go before half time the sides were level; 0-1 each. A goal by Tony O Keeffe settled White’s Cross and they went in at half-time, deservedly ahead. Kilmichael started the brighter in the second and got a number of quick scores.
White’s Cross responded, however, and a number of goals including another one by Tony O’Keeffe put them in a commanding position. With Robert McElhinney and Dean Smith lording it at midfield, White’s Cross really should have got more scores and put the game beyond Kilmichael’s reach. They did not do this and were made pay for failing to turn the amount of possession they had into scores. Two late goals won it for Kilmichael.
