White’s Cross 2 – 09 Ballyphehane 1 – 05

In this Under 15 football league clash scores were hard to come by in the opening 10 minutes with both teams just registering one point a piece. Between the tenth and 20th minutes White’s Cross’ midfield pair Shane Cronin and Shane Crowley began to assert their dominance and Craig Hegarty was showing extremely well in the forward line.

White’s Cross scored two goals and a point in this period and were well on top. Ballyphehane to their credit battled back and scored two points before half time to leave the score at 2-02 to 0-03.

Ballyphehane started the second half very well with the O’Mahonys, Paul and Eric, outstanding for them. They got a goal and a point inside the opening 5 minutes and should really have got some more but for some fabulous saves by White’s Cross goalkeeper Jack O’Leary.

White’s Cross slowly began to get back into the game. Martin Reid and John Ramsey were winning their battles at the back and Ballyphehane scores were drying up.

White’s Cross then hit a purple patch of their own and scored five points without reply from the outstanding Craig Hegarty, David Roche and Kevin Ryan. This period essentially killed off the game. Though Ballyphehane battled to the end, White’s Cross ran out deserving winners.
