The Minor football management, under the continued guidance of selectors Paul Noonan and Jonathan Kenneally saw their charges off to a winning start with a nail-biting victory over Ballygarvan. It required a last minute Shane Cahill goal to earn this victory by 3-06 to 3-03. This goal also ensured a hatrick for Cahill who also tapped over two points, with all scores from play.
The following week Shane proved that this form was no flash-in-the-pan as he netted another two goals against St Finbarrs to help our side to a 4-04 to 2-08 victory. Of course Shane’s father Dominic comes from the footballing strong-hold of County Kilkenny so it is obvious where he is getting his ‘natural born talent’ from when it comes to the big ball! Jonathan Scanlon, the Osborne brothers George and Michael, Paul Harte and Richard Sherlock have been others to impress in these early wins for our minor footballers.
