White’s Cross 1 – 10 Lough Rovers 0 – 08

WHITE’S CROSS are through to the Cork County Junior B Hurling Championship final over following  their five point win over  Lough Rovers in the semi final replay at Pairc Ui Rinn  last evening. The deciding score came from sub Seamus  Reid  in the 54th minute. Lough Rovers were forced  to line out without key player  Jonathan English, who has  emigrated having played so well in the drawn game. 

Conor Buckley opened the scoring with an early pointed  free that struck the post and came out to the same player who sent it over. Lough  Rovers opening score was a pointed free by Paul Foy.

Rovers hit a purple patch and they hit some good points. well from this setback. Good play by David Daly to Cian Boyle led to a fine point by Kieran Kenneally. Pat Prout put Paul Foy through for a point that made it 0-4 to 0- 1.

In the 18th minute, White’s Cross had a pointed free by Conor Buckley. Rovers keeper Niall O Sullivan saved  well from Kevin Buckley.

In the 26th minute, a sideline cut by Brendan Murnane to Billy O’Hara produced a point as The Cross closed the gap to the minimum in the dying moments when  Conor Buckley pointed another free to leave it 0-05 to 0-4 at the interval.

On the resumption, Conor Buckley and Paul Foy exchanged an early pointed free.

By the 40th minute, Buckley with a free had them level 0-6 each. They were also deadlocked at 0-7 apiece

 Dean Cummins made some good runs for  Lough Rovers against the stiff breeze. some

They lacked scoring powerup front. Buckley pointed a 65 with Rovers replying in the  5lst minute when Paul Foy pointed another free .

White’s Cross substitute Seamus Reid was only on a few minutes when he gained possession from Billy O’Hara and make belted the  ball to the net  to make it 1-09 to 0-08.

In the 58th minute, Sam Heffernan worked well to Brendan Murnane who was fouled.

Conor Buckley struck another fine pointed free that sealed victory by a five-point margin.
