Eoin Murnane’s second half goal proved to be the crucial score in this junior hurling league game played in Church Road. White’s Cross were short a number of players through injury and the selectors also used the game to experiment ahead of next Saturday night’s city division junior hurling championship final. Cormac O’Flynn and Ross Murphy formed a new midfield partnership and performed extremely well there. Seamus Quinlan won a lot of ball at full forward and Ronan Quain had a great game at the other side of the field. Ronan Aherne deputised for Shane Cahill in goal and pulled of two great saves in the second half when the game was in the balance. The selectors will be pleased with the result but more so with the performance. Douglas await now in the city championship final on Saturday evening next. The club will be seeking to win their third championship on the bounce but will know that Douglas will provide formidable opposition as they try to retain their title.
