White’s Cross concluded their Junior D League group campaign with a strong home performance against Glanmire on Sunday morning, securing second place in the table after an impressive run of four wins and a draw from five outings.

Played in ideal conditions, White’s Cross settled quickly and opened their account through Evan Quain before a well-worked team move, involving multiple players, was expertly finished by Fionnán Quinlan. This set the tone for a dominant first half display. Seán Delaney and Luke Mullins were particularly influential, both contributing fine scores from play, while Jordan Bransfield played a key role in linking the attack with intelligent passing.

Defensively, White’s Cross were equally sharp. Turnovers won by Seán Twomey, Luke Murphy, Richie Sherlock and Chris Dunne ensured Glanmire were limited to just a single point in the opening half. By the interval, the hosts had built a commanding 0-7 to 0-1 lead, reflecting their control across the pitch.
Glanmire showed some resistance after the restart with early points, but White’s Cross responded well. A superb individual effort from Murt Kelleher, surging forward before striking over with his left foot, restored momentum. Further points from Mullins and Delaney kept the scoreboard ticking.

The decisive moment arrived midway through the second half when Seán Delaney finished clinically to the net, effectively putting the game beyond doubt. Despite a few late Glanmire scores, White’s Cross maintained their composure, with Mullins adding another point to cap a fine personal tally. The final whistle confirmed a deserved 1-11 to 0-5 victory. White’s Cross now look ahead to the next stage of the competition (either a final or semi-final – to be confirmed) following a well-rounded team performance.
