This under 12 grading league game played in Carraig Na Bhfear College pitch was the quintessential proverbial game of two halves. The opening half belonged to the visitors as they lead on a score of 2-02 to no score at half time. However, it was not a case of complete domination either. Many of the Colmcille’s players stood out in this period, none more so than Sean Buckley at center back who was outstanding from the outset. Isaacc Collins, Noah O’Donoghue and Ronan Crowley were also playing very well. We just could not impact the scoresheet.

The half-time break allowed the team the opportunity to re-group. Though it was the visitors that again got the opening score of the second period to extend their lead, Colmcille’s soon took over the scoring. Cathal Walsh, who had arrived late, was one of a number of substitutes that was introduced. He along with the hard-working Darragh Ahern made a big difference in terms of giving us an attacking edge. Walsh would himself to 2-02 while on the field. He also had a goal-bound effort come back off the post as Colmcille’s went chasing the win. Unfortunately time ran out at the end and defeat was their lot on this occasion. However, the spirit shown to fight back will please their coaches and bodes well for further challenges ahead.
