A late scoring burst saw Erin’s Own collect both league points when they visited Carraig Na Bhfear for this Under 13 hurling league on Sunday evening. The first half was very evenly contested. Cian Ramsell scored two points for Colmcille’s either side of a brace of frees for Erin’s Own to leave the sides level after 15 minutes. Ronan Cunningham and Ross O’Donovan scored two well-taken points from play either side of another Erin’s Own point to leave their side one up approaching half time. However, on the stroke of half-time the visitors equalized to leave the sides level at 0-04 apiece.
Colmcille’s shuffled the deck at half time with Ronan Glavey coming out of goal to play center forward. Charlie Cox moved to midfield and along with George O’Connell at center-back, they provided a very hard-working ,industrious center for the home-side. The game remained very tight in the second half with Ronan Glavey’s move paying off as he got the only score in the opening 10 minutes of that half. Erin’s Own then went on a bit of scoring spree. They moved ahead in the 13th minute and in the 16th minute their full-forward scored a superb individual goal to give Ruairi Harte no chance in the Colmcille’s nets. They scored another three-pointer a short-time later to leave the home-side a little shell-shocked. A low-scoring game that had nothing in it, now saw one team leading by seven points. Colmcille’s battled to end and Ross O’Donovan added another point from play, however, the goal needed to have a chance of winning never materialized.
