St. Colmcille’s 6 – 15 Liscarrol & Churchtown Gaels 1 – 04

As the score-line suggests this was a very one sided game as Colmcille’s made it two wins from two in the under 16 football league. The writing was on the wall for the visiting side from North Cork when Alex Sheehan’s attempt at a point went into the back of the net in the opening minute. Fachtna Kelleher who would finish as top-scorer with 1-08, got the first of his points in the 4th minute. There were few highlights in a first half that saw relentless attacking from the home side. What was impressive about the game was that all of Colmcille’s scores came from open play and each of the starting forwards and both midfielders all finding their range.

With the side leading 3-11 to 0-01 at half-time, the selectors were able to make significant changes to the team. The likes of Riain Harden and Eamon Tattan were two such players to come on and make an impact on procedings. To the visitors credit they continued to battle to the end. They were rewarded with a goal and a few late points to make the scoreboard more respectable from their point of view.
