Paudie Curtain!

Thanks Paudie!

A dangerous thing always to single out people for special praise but it is appropriate that we pay special tribute to Paudie Curtain for his outstanding contribution to the Junior A footballers for many years.  Paudie has been involved with this side for the bones of ten years as a manager and more recently as a selector.  He worked quietly and with great enthusiasm behind the scenes and it seemed to be a battle between himself and Finbarr Kiely for the last couple of years to be first to open the grounds ahead of any junior football sessions or games at White’s Cross!  To see the commitment of Paudie made it very difficult for those training to miss sessions.  Following on from the historic first game under lights at Croke Park last spring, Paudie having attended the sell-out game left Dublin before 6 am the following morning in order to simply attend a training session.  This was not something that Paudie broadcast, but simply a matter that came up in conversation, as players discussed the game of the previous evening in the dressing-room prior to the session.  On another occasion he attended another session having travelled the length of the country in a fire-engine, taking in the session on his long and slow journey home.  Thank you Paudie for your huge contribution to our Club.
