SUMMARY
Credit to Rathpeacon for battling until the end but as the scoreline suggests, it was quite one sided.
Nineteen points is an impressive tally, on the face of it, in any championship match. It was impressive in the fact that we had 8 different scorers from play and some of the points from Conor Docherty and Patrick Harrington were top drawer.
The strength and pace of our three half forwards (Bobby Riordan, Brendan Quaine, Ronan Healy) and both midfielders (Daniel Kelleher and Fiachra O Connell) was too much for our opponents and they were key to creating the scores or finishing some of them themselves.
However, though we scored 19 points, we had as many wides. It was a strange game played in conditions and with the intensity of a game that might have been played in early March rather than what we might expect to be a typical ‘summer championship ‘ game.
