White’s Cross GAA had a very special visitor when All Ireland winning Cork Goalkeeper Amy Lee, came to visit our underage boys and girls bringing with her the Camogie All Ireland trophy – the O’ Duffy Cup.
Indeed many of the girls present were in Croke Park on that great day in August when they witnessed Amy and her teammates retain the cup. Many thanks to Amy, of Na Piarsaigh GAA club, for being so generous with her time in signing many many jerseys, hurleys, sliotars or whatever was asked of her as well as posing for countless photographs.
Our girls’ teams from all our age groups, including our very own recently crowned county champions, were there to meet her and the O Duffy Cup – hopefully gaining some inspiration from the visit from one or their heroes. Thanks again to Amy who also had time to give some words of wisdom to our budding goalkeepers in the club. Looking forward to seeing her bringing it back home to Leeside again in 2025.
