After a massive win over Doneraile on Thursday 11th , the St Colmcille’s under 16 hurlers travelled to Kildorrery on Sunday morning the 14th of May. A blistering start saw us lead 0- 03 to 0 -00 after 6 minutes thanks to 3 points from Billy Ryan (2 long range frees from and a well taken score from play). Kildorrery came back into it with a couple of good scores and could have gone ahead at this point had it not been for a commanding performance from Dylan Bowen in goal. Half way through the first half, Colmcilles scored a goal that was a real team effort. Defender Jack Harte cleared to Billy Ryan who in turn fed Cian Dunne on the wing who produced a deft pass to Alex Flynn who created the space to turn and he nail the ball into the net from a tight angle. At the other end , pressure from Kildorrery eventually resulted in them raising a green flag of their own to leave the half time score 1-5 to 1-2.
Despite facing into a strong breeze in the second half, it was Colmcilles that that started the brighter of the two sides. Even Quain had two fantastic long range points and Alex Flynn added another. The home side settled and thanks in part to some sloppy fouling from St Colmcille’s provided them with opportunities to reduce the deficit which they duly availed of. The visitors still held the lead until injury time when a loose ball in the midfield was gathered by the Kildorrery midfielder who struck a great score to level the game
