The Junior A football team travelled to Douglas to take on the home side in the Junior A football league on Thursday 18th of May. A Ruairi Quinlan goal after only a few minutes looked to have set White’s Cross up for a possible revenge for the defeat at the hands of the same opposition only a few weeks ago in the McSwiney Cup. Though Douglas hit back almost immediately, there was nothing between the sides until Douglas got another goal on the 17th minute. Again though White’s Cross were very much still in the game until the concession of a very soft goal just before half time lead to the home side leading on a score of 3-07 to 1-05 at the break.
After three second half minutes the home side registered their 4th major of the game. They were well in command now. However Tom Casey scored a White’s Cross goal two minutes later and a further three minutes later Conor Buckley converted a penalty. The goal fest afte half-time had seen the score being reduced to 4-07 to 3-05. There was a lull in the scoring for a bit but it was Douglas that did kick the next few points. They also managed to get a late fifth goal. Only Stephen Whooley replied from a White’s Cross perspective.
