April Under-Age Blitzes

17 April 2023

Our youngest members have been busy of late taking part in various challenge games and blitzes.

The under 8s have played in Monster blitzes in Pairc Ui Chaoimh in both hurling and football. They have played against the likes of Inniscarra, Kiltha Og, Kilworth, Kilbrittain and Douglas. The Monster Blitzes they play there are a fantastic way for all the players to exhibit the skills they have been honing in training in mini-sided blitz games.

White’s Cross was a hive of activity on Tuesday evening the 18th of April with our Under 9 boys played three mini-games against St. Vincents in football. This group of players have been training hard since February on the astro-turf under the management of Donal Looney, Barry Hegarty and Padraic Kelleher and all this great work was clearly evident on the evening.

The under 10 Boys travelled to Bishopstown on Saturday April 15th to take on both Bishopstown and Ballinora in football. We fielded two small sided teams and our lads more than acquitted themselves against our Southside opposition.

The under 11 boys also played a football match on Sunday 16th of April at home to Clyda Rovers. Despite playing against the elements Clyda got off to the better start. With Ruairi Harte, Rory Aherne, James Hegarty, Cooper Coleman and Cian Ramsell outstanding in defence, we managed to make it to half time trailing but very much still in the game. Shane O’Halloran and George O’Connell worked their socks off in midfield and we managed to work our way back into the game. Bradley Roche, Josh Holmes, Sean McSweeney, Sam O’Connell and our rotating goalies, Gearoid Hayes and Alex Lynam, all stepped up to the mark in the forward line and with a strong goal scoring finish, the game became a lot tighter in the second half. All are lookong forward to playing Clyda again later in the summer om another competitive game.
