Our Minor footballers qualified to represent the City Division in the County Championship Quarter Final after their convincing victory over Delaneys in the City Final. Here they met Castletownbere at Aughaville. In a most entertaining hour of football, White’s Cross emerged victorious over the boys from the south-west peninsula by 4-9 to 1-9. A hat-trick of goals from star-forward Johnny O’ Shea, swung this encounter in our favour. Others to shine on this day included Michael Osborne, Richie Sherlock, Ian Lee, Jonathan Scanlon, Paddy Mullins and Dylan Burke.
The county semi-final paired us against Kilmurry at Ballygarvan. A dreadful start saw the Kilmurry lads race into a six point lead at half-time. However our lads really put it up to the Kilmurry lads in the second half, with strong performances from Denis O’ Regan, Dylan Burke, Colm Keane, Paul O’ Sullivan and Shane Cahill. It was not to be however and we lost out to the side that went on subsequently to win the county title.
