White’s Cross GAA Club was recently feted to a Civic Reception with Lord-Mayor Cllr. Deirdre Clune, in recognition of winning the 2005 McSwiney Cup.
The Mayfield club also were rewarded in a similar fashion for their success in the MacCurtain Cup at the same function. Dignitaries present included Mick Dolan, Chairperson of the Cork County Board, who congratulated the White’s Cross club on our success.
The two Cups are named after Cork’s two most famous Lord Mayors, Terence McSwiney and Tomas MacCurtain, who both died while holding Office in 1920. White’s Cross GAA is honoured to be associated with this historic figure
