Upper Glanmire Community Association had a fantastic turnout for their fifth St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival. White’s Cross is hugely grateful to Upper Glanmire Community Association and their St. Patrick’s Day Festival Committee for giving White’s Cross GAA the honour of selecting the Grand Marshal for their 2017 parade, in honour of our 60th Anniversary Celebrations. White’s Cross GAA Vice President Con Delaney was selected for this distinction – given that Con was part of the first team to play for White’s Cross in the year of our foundation and his continued involvement today. Speaking of foundations Con has been very active in recent years in many of our Club’s development projects – many is the hour he spent on the hurling wall and training area projects.
White’s Cross GAA Juvenile Club was delighted to follow Con in leading out the parade which commenced at the Community Centre before parading down to Ros Ard and returning back up to the hall once again. The huge attendance then adjourned to the sports hall where there were lots and lots of fun activities for young and not so young alike. White’s Cross GAA would like to complement the Upper Glanmire Community Association on their great work in piecing together this very special day for our community – it is apparent that a huge amount of preparation goes into organising and executing the busy day.
Moreover we say a big thank you to the parents of our young members who ensured that the green and white White’s Cross jerseys were sparkling clean for the parade – colours that were very much in keeping with the day itself!
