We welcomed Brian Dillons to White’s Cross on this sunny Friday evening, with conditions perfect for hurling. There followed a great game, with White’s Cross winning on a scoreline of 5- 05 to 4- 02. The game was closely contested all through.
Playing against the wind in the first half White’s Cross got off to a great start with goals from Sean Kelly and Jordan Bransfield. Daniel O’Hara and Jack Stuart were flying at midfield and got some great points, and Gavin Cronin, Alex O’Keeffe and Adrian Buckley were outstanding in the half back line. The sides were level at half time and though we turned to play with the breeze, a game Brian Dillons side put it up to our lads. However some great finishing from Sean Kelly and Jordan Bransfield yielded further goals for White’s Cross.
Another super goal saw the ball worked from the backs up to Cian O’Brien who delivered a great pass to Cathal O’Flynn who pulled first time to the net. Luke Murphy, Fionn Hickey and Patrick O’Hara all played a part in creating these scores. At the other end Conor Docherty and Harry Fitzgerald combined to save a certain goal and keep the danger at bay.
Dillons threw everything at us in the closing stages but they had no answer to the brilliance of Adam Kent and Alex O’Keeffe who cleared ball after ball. In the end we came away with a well deserved win. The team deserves great credit for their tackling, tenacity, teamwork and skills as well as playing some stylish hurling all through.
