White’s Cross 1 – 10 Rathpeacon 3 – 02

Only a superb save by White’s Cross’ goalkeeper Colin McCarthy denied Rathpeacon at the end of this very close encounter. The game was almost a carbon copy of the Grenagh game with White’s Cross again tearing into an early lead. The forwards were well on top in this period with Mark Wallace and Corey Cambridge winning an amount of ball that was translated into scores. Nearing half time White’s Cross led seven points to no-score. Rathpeacon got a goal near half time to give them a life-line.

The second half was a completely different game with Rathpeacon doing most of the scoring and White’s Cross backs were really under pressure. White’s Cross moved Billy Cronin and Denis Bradley back to help to quell the tide and they along with the rock-solid Ronan Quain helped to steady the ship for White’s Cross. A goal by Sam Heffernan, who also hit the underneath of the post twice, put White’s Cross marginally ahead at the end. But only for that superb save by McCarthy it would have been Rathpeacon that would have ended the game victorious.
