White’s Cross 4 – 09 Grenagh 6 – 03

A draw was a fair result in a game where, at different stages, both teams looked like they were going to win comfortably. Credit must be given to both sides for the way they clawed themselves back into the game. White’s Cross started the better of the two sides and raced into a 1-04 to no-score lead. Fiachra O’Connell was at the end of White’s Cross’ best moves in this period where he kicked three superb points from play.

Grenagh soon came into the game and, mainly through their ability to get goals, actually led at half-time. The second half started the way the first half finished and it was all Grenagh. It was now the home side who were facing a large deficit. That soon changed with a number of positional changes. Cormac O Flynn moved to midfield where he had a big influence on the game, Chelsea Thomas Jack Kiely and Cillian Hall got tight at the back and at the other end of the field the scores began to flow. Sean Kelly’s goal was the pick of the bunch.
