Four members of the White’s Cross GAA team were part of the Seandún panel that contested the County Senior Football Championship this season. Murt Kelleher, Paddy O’ Brien, Edwin Buckley and Conor Buckley all wore the divisional shirt this season, but Conor was unfortunate to pick up an ankle injury while playing a challenge game for the side against the Cork Junior team, which ruled him out of the championship encounter.
The remaining three lads started for the side in their recent third-round clash against Illen Rovers. The west-Cork side started as firm favourites, having reached the County final in 2007. However they were most fortunate to win this tussle in Macroom on a 10 points to 7 score-line. Seandún, buoyed by their opening round victory over Beara, put in a gigantic effort and can take great comfort out of their proud efforts – this despite the loss of a number of key players at the last minute. We salute Edwin, Paddy and Murt for their efforts and indeed all those involved with the side.
