In their fifth outing, things did not look bright for White’s Cross when they trailed Brian Dillons by 1:7 to 0:5 at half-time and then conceded a fortuitous goal immediately after the break to trail by eight points.
However driven on by the strong defending thereafter of Richard Sherlock, John Hegarty and Martin Kelleher, the lads whittled away at the Dillons tally.
The decisive break came when Paul Noonan got the deftest of touches to a 45 metre free, to score a vital goal. Brendán Murnane struck for the equaliser only for Dillons to regain the lead with time running out. However Don O’ Regan proved the White’s Cross hero, as the attacking wing-back landed the equaliser on full-time!
