White’s Cross 2 – 13 Brian Dillons 0 – 09

The junior B hurlers had a big win over Brian Dillons in their opening league game. Tough it was a strong team performance,  special mention has to go to Harry Coughlan. He was outstanding all through and in the first half he contributed 9 points all from play. He was simply unplayable and his massive personal contribution meant that White’s Cross lead by 11 points to 2 at the break. Dillons had a wind advantage in the second period and they started the come much more into the game in the second  half. However, any notion that they might win the game was dispelled when Seamus Reid finished neatly with 10 minutes to go for his sides opening goal. Cathal Quinlan scored another a few minutes later. He won a fine ball in the air and turned and finished low to the net for a superb goal. At the end, Daniel Dunphy was called upon to make one top class save to keep a clean sheet.
