Junior A Football v Nemo Rangers & St. Nicks!

Our A team clashed with league leaders Nemo Rangers at the Douglas Road venue.  Leading by 1-4 to 0-1 after twelve minutes, the Capwell boys looked odds on to take their winning ways to seven on the trot.  However White’s Cross battled gamely and a Jonathan Kenneally goal after 22 minutes brought us right back into contention.  With wing-back Barry O Brien fielding majestically and the Buckley brothers Conor and Kevin kicking points we trailed by just one at the break.

On the resumption more great defending from O Brien, Padraig Murnane and captain John O Connell minimised Nemo scoring.  With time almost up White’s Cross led 1-8 to 1-7.  However in one last surge up-field Nemo full-forward Stephen Calnan brought out the very best of keeper Billy Sheahan, who deflected out for a 45.  Nemo equalised in the following sequel of play to salvage a point from this clash.

The following Monday, back at home in White’s Cross, we ran out convincing winners over St. Nicks on a 0-14 to 1-4 score in Round 7 of the Junior A League.  Here there were big performances from Paul Finnegan, Sean Murnane, John Meade and John Drummy.  This solid victory had this side set up very nicely for their Championship clash with Passage.
